Christian Grief Counseling

The loss of a loved one is an experience that shakes our world. It is natural in this situation to ask questions, to cry, to be angry, to feel numb or to feel a jumble of emotions in a flurry of thoughts.

You may not fully understand what you are feeling, or you may be struggling to make sense of your thoughts as you try to put the pieces back together after your loss. The emotional and spiritual struggle can be difficult to bear.

Everyone grieves in their own way, but there are general stages of grief that most people go through, though not in the same order or in the same way.

These stages of grief are:

  • Denial – refusing to accept that this is happening

  • Anger – casting blame, either toward the loved one, God, or both

  • Bargaining – being willing to do anything to undo what’s happened

  • Depression – being resigned to what’s happened

  • Acceptance – accepting what’s happened as real, but knowing you’ll be okay

If you need help to process what you’re thinking and feeling as you grieve, the counselors at Thousand Oaks Christian Counseling are here to help.

As an association of Christian counselors, the counselors consider spiritual resources such as the Bible and prayer foundational and important to the process of grief. Additionally, the counselors are skilled at understanding how different individuals experience loss and work through that grief for themselves.

Your counselor will listen to your unique story and work with you to bring perspective and help you process your grief, along with providing you with tools to cope with your grief in this season. Christian grief counseling will help you find peace and comfort through a biblical understating of life and death, as well as how God in his mercy walks with us through these seasons.

You don’t have to walk the journey of grief alone. Contact Thousand Oaks Christian Counseling today to book your appointment for a risk-free initial assessment with a counselor and begin your journey toward healing.
